‘Where the children come first’

Sapling Class Years 3&4

Welcome to Sapling Class

We hope you enjoy reading all about our brilliant class and all the learning we will be doing this term!

In Sapling class, Years 3 and 4 work together under the direction of the class teacher Mr Murray and Mrs Hartley, with the support and help of Mrs Jones. Together they make sure that we have access to a rich and varied curriculum with support and encouragement wherever necessary. We look after one another and always try to do our best.

Our Summer term curriculum offer is called 'Amazing Earth'. We will be looking at our unique planet and all the wild, extreme yet beautiful and vulnerable things that make it so special. From rivers and mountains to storms and tsunamis, we will go on an adventure, learning all about the small blue planet that we call home. In English we will be studying a wonderful book called "The Lost Thing" and moving on to look at "The First Drawing" and "Stone Age Boy". This will let us look at the ancient history of Earth and the ways in which it has changed over thousands of years. In Maths, we will be looking at arithmetic, fractions and decimals, geometry, statistics and area and perimeter. We will be studying the Geography of Great Britain including our rivers and coastline, as well as the weather and forces that change and alter our planet over time.

Our Art and Design Technology this term is based on the work of William Morris and we will design, make and use our own printing blocks inspired by the natural world and his many works. In RE, we will be looking at Judaism and the way Christians show their faith. In PSHE, we will be concentrating on our relationships, exploring how we make friends and keep them, including how to resolve problems.

You can see all of the subjects and what we will be learning about on the curriculum offer below or for more detailed information on all the subjects that are taught at Stockcross please click here.

PTFA

Every year the PTFA very kindly gives us some money to spend on resources for the classroom.  This money is essential to help us buy all those "extra" bits and bobs that really help the children to engage in their learning and bring that learning to life.  The fundraising ideas are always inventive and great fun for all involved.
