‘Where the children come first’

PE and Sport Premium

At this school our vision is for every child to be the best that they can be and this includes their physical, mental and emotional well-being. We see sport and activity as a crucial part of this to sustain a positive approach to the challenges the children will face as they move through life. We aim to equip them with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. We use the PE and Sports Premium to deliver high quality sport provision through specialist coaches and through our affiliation to the West Berkshire Schools Sports Partnership. We enter competitions in tag rugby, netball, football, cricket as well as participating in athletics, indoor bowling and orienteering, to name but a few of the very wide range of opportunities which our children have access to.

The school has been awarded the School Games Gold Award, has two Year 6 Sports Ambassadors who deliver a sports report to the whole school during Achievers' Assembly and has been a contender in the Berkshire School Games.

Watch the Movement is Life YouTube video for more information on physical activity for children.

Sports Captains

Each year the school elects Sports Captains from our Year 6; they represent the school as Sports Ambassadors.  One of their main jobs is to manage the fun equipment at play time for the children, which is called Huff and Puff.

At Stockcross, we are very fortunate to be given the chance to participate in a wide range of sports.  Not only do we have inter-school competitions, but we also have tournaments around Berkshire.  Every year the whole school takes part in Sports Day and House Colours Day.  Over the past few years we have had a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes visit us and a visit from an Invictus Games British rowing team member, Scott Meenagh.

When you join our school, we hope you will enjoy all the sports we play.
