Love Languages - Les Jeux Olympiques

Love Languages

On Thursday 9th February, seven of our class went to St Helen's and St Katherine's School for the Love Languages Competition.  We performed a play called Les Jeux Olympiques and we did really well and came second.  Overall, it was a memorable experience and a great chance to speak different languages.

Being Year 6…..

As Year 6 we take on a range of responsibilities, including House Captains, Sports Captains, Tour Guide Leaders, Tea Party Organiser and other roles around the school.  Each year, we become buddies to the new children in Reception to show them around and to help them at playtimes.

At the very start of the year in September, the Year 6 go on an Outward Bound holiday, usually based at a PGL Centre.  We go away without our parents for a week and get the chance to do about 20 different activities from climbing up very tall posts, zip wires, raft building and sailing.  It really challenges us, but it is great fun and we all grow up so much.

Tour Guides

When a prospective parent visits our school, we take them around showing them everything their child needs to learn and have fun.  We also show them the environment their child will learn in and talk about all the sport that we do at Stockcross.

Useful Information ……

Reading Books and Records

These should be brought into school each day and put into your tray ready for reading during the day.  Adults will fill in your Reading Record when they hear you read.  You should update your Reading Record with the details of the books you read to show that you are reading a range of texts and include a brief comment about it.

Reading at Home

Try to read to an adult as often as you can and get them to ask you questions about what you have just read.

PE Kit

PE will be on Monday and Thursday.  However, your PE kit should be in all week.  Please make sure all the kit is clearly labelled with your name.

Jumpers

Make sure it is clearly LABELLED!  If marked in biro, please renew every few washes as names soon disappear.  If you take it off during school time, fold it up carefully and put it in your tray.

Water Bottles

Ensure you have a named water bottle in school every day.

Arriving in school

You should be in the playground ready to line up by 8.55.  Remember, no ball games or playing on the adventure playground before school.
