Welcome to Class 1A!
Our class 1A teachers are Mrs Kane and Mrs Slater helped by Mrs Allen, Mrs English and Mrs Wood. Mrs Kane teaches us on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Mrs Slater teaches us on a Wednesday. Each morning we have an English and maths focused carpet time and a fun group phonics session. We work with the teacher or teaching assistant as well as independently to give us time to develop and deepen our learning. In the afternoon we concentrate on developing other areas of learning such as geography, science and PE.
Every day we have the opportunity for independent learning. In the morning and the afternoon we will plan our own time and use our interests to explore and apply our skills that we have learnt. We will develop our speaking and listening skills by explaining what we have been doing and thinking about ways to continue to develop and adapt our ideas further. We learn through play and there is never a dull moment in our class!
What a wonderful day we all had at Marwell Zoo. The weather gods were kind to us and we kept dry all day! We saw so many animals and discovered many new interesting facts. The children decided that a giraffe would make an excellent class pet!
Just before half term the children and staff had a very exciting week with visits from both the police and fire brigade. It was part of a whole school theme of "safety" where the children had been learning all about keeping themselves safe not only when they are out and about but also when they are at home. They have learnt about e safety, water safety, stranger danger, fire safety and also healthy living and eating.
Our School Trip
We had a fantastic trip to Bath. It was all very exciting travelling in the bus with our special trip buddies and then discovering all the hidden secrets of Bath Spa. Wow we never knew that the water was so hot, we could even see it bubbling and steaming! After walking around and learning so much about the Romans we needed a much deserved rest and refuel mmh yummy lunch.
After lunch we began to get very excited about going to the theatre. We watched a very funny play with 2 people dressing up and singing funny songs and doing funny dances. They told us about how barmy Britain was in the olden days. In the interval we got chocolate buttons to eat and some funny glasses to wear, the glasses made everything look very strange. Sometimes it felt like you could touch things floating in the air.
We loved our day in Bath, school trips are brilliant!
The children worked so hard to learn all their lines, dances and songs to perform their nativity play Christmas with the aliens. The children (and teachers!) loved every minute of this play. Each and every child was amazing taking part with such enthusiasm. Well done to everyone.
